Description

This is the first album I recorded. The story behind it is this. In 1980 I went to see my spiritual teacher in India. I was travelling with Kumudinii from Canada and Nitish. It was my first time in India and on my way I bought 10 cassettes. I planned to record for my guru the songs that I had written for Him over the previous five years and to give to Him. But as I began recording, each time I completed a cassette to give to Him, someone would ask me for the recording so I would give it to them. On the last day, I was waiting on the corner where his car would turn before taking him out for His field walk. I stood there alone and just as He drove out of his house, I waited with so much love and apprehension for Him. His car stopped as it was turning and the window was open.
I saw His face, His smile and I melted inside and said to Him. “this is for You Baba”, as I offered the cassette of songs. He reached out and opened His hands and said “Why do you want to give me this?”. I said “Because I love you Baba”. At that point He closed His hands around my cassette of songs and held it inside. He reached up and gave me namaskar with a loving smile on His face.
I then went back to England and the previous recordings I had made of these songs had all been erased (by mistake) so I rerecorded this album in three days thanks to Vimal at RAWA studios in Liverpool.
This cassette is reproduced here exactly as it was when I gave it to Him and before launching any of my other albums I imagine placing them into His hands once again for He is the Love of life, Life of my own, song of my song. Namaskar. Jyoshna
